Plastic Unwrapped : Margate

This event explored the highly topical theme of plastic. Scientists from the University of Kent's School of Physical Sciences delivered free workshops to make an in-depth examination of the issue through hands-on activities and experiments, and considered the exciting role of chemistry and chemists in the future of plastic. The first session incorporated a beach clean, and we contributed the data we collected to the Marine Conservation Society’s National Survey, ‘Beachwatch’. The remaining sessions were held at the iconic Dreamland theme-park. Daniel Webb of Everyday Plastic talked to participants about his year of saving every plastic item he used, which provided context and added impact.
